Is it time to go Locum?
Dr Karthik Nathan is a Locum Doctor who completed his medical degree at Notre Dame University in Sydney. Karthik enjoyed his experience moving out of home and living in the heart of Sydney, although as Notre Dame has a clinical school at Werribee Mercy, he was able to move back to Melbourne for his clinical years and start his internship at Box Hill Hospital. Karthik was inspired to get into medicine when he started studying his Bachelor of Biomedical Science/Law as Monash University, soon realising he enjoyed Biomedical Science over Law. His cousin who is a Neurologist, also inspired him to start is medical degree. Throughout his career so far, Karthik has learnt that nothing in medicine comes easily, it is an extremely competitive and rigorous career from the outset, but if you can find a passion for medicine it will be a highly rewarding career. Realising that he wants a career where he can balance his life with other interests that includes gym, football, going to AFL games, travelling, and spending time with his family, partner and friends, locuming became the perfect fit for him.
